Mother & Daughter Reunited

Mum on the right and daughter on the left.

For the first time since 2018 …..Wave Runner and her daughter Second Wave are sharing a paddock again at Macca Lodge. Second Wave being her sixth foal.

Wave Runner is expected to deliver her eleventh foal (by Always B Miki) late September, while Second Wave is due to deliver her first foal (by Fear the Dragon) early December.

Macca Lodge has been the permanent home of Wave Runner since 2015 and we are extremely grateful to Brent and Sheree Mc Intyre and the wider team for the excellent care they take of her and our foals. Their 600 acres of highly fertile Northern Southland pasture surely is the perfect place for a foal to grow into a race track star.

We would also like to acknowledge the team at Tuapeka Lodge (in particular the late Father Dan Cummings) who gave us the opportunity to race on lease and then later purchase Wave Runner as a proven broodmare. Here’s hoping we might breed one good enough to emulate the achievements of NZ Trotting Cup winners, Iraklis and Monkey King, two champion horses from the Tuapeka breed.

If you’ve got a spare couple of minutes read this great story published by Bruce Stewart on the Southern Harness Racing website, which reflects upon the life and achievements of Father Dan who passed away in March 2020.
