Franco Indie delivers Group One glory

A tough win by Franco Indie in the NZ Sires Stakes 2YC&G Final provided Always B Miki with the prefect start to his New Zealand stud career.

The Mark Purdon and Hayden Cullen trained gelding showed grit and determination when sitting parked throughout the age-group feature to narrowly defeat stablemate and runner-up Franco Mac (Bettor’s Delight) with third place getter Republican Party (Bettors Delight) a further 3 lengths away in third..

Franco Indie paced the 1980m in 2.20.2 with a mile rate of 1.53.9. However his fastest mile rate was recorded 11 days prior when smashing the 1700m New Zealand 2YO record at Ashburton Raceway in a scintillating 1.51.9 mile rate, from the mobile. Franco Indie took nearly a full second off the old record of 1-59.7 set by Alta Maestro at Cambridge Raceway in 2017.

Wave Runner has a rising yearling filly by Always B Miki and is also safely in foal to him again. We’re crossing our fingers for a colt !
