Kilowatt Kid bags a hat-trick of wins

After sitting third in the running most of the trip, for driver Michael Merton, Kilowatt Kid (the Kid) moved up three-wide to challenge on the turn, letting down strongly to win by 1.5 lengths in a time of 1.52:00 for the mile.

The “hat-trick run” began on 29 April at Pocono Downs, Pennsylvania with the Kid storming home from 5 back on the inner to win by 1/2 head in 1.53:00 for driver Tyler Buter. Next up was Tioga Downs on 7 May where the Kid recorded the same time through a 1.75 length victory from a sweet run in the trail in the hands of Michael Merten.

The “hat-trick run” took Kilowatt Kid’s career record to 19 wins and 23 placings from 93 starts for $254k stakes money. His 5 x NZ and 4 x AU wins have now been built on by 10 x USA wins.
