Kilowatt Kid’s 15th win and 51st for mum.
31 December 2022 - Freehold Raceway, New Jersey, USA
Jim Marohn Jr secured the driver’s championship for the 2022 season when piloting Kilowatt Kid to victory on New Year’s Eve. After settling at the rear of the field, Kilowatt Kid had the last say at them in the stretch winning by 3m in a time of 1.56.3 for the mile.
Four day’s after his younger brother, Sand Wave, chalked up win 50 for mum, the 8YO American Ideal gelding wound back the clock to record his 15th career victory. His 6th in the USA and lifetime earnings of $216k. The Kid now sits atop as Wave Runner’s highest earner. Bonnie Joan at $201k is second, with Sand Wave third on $147k.
You can watch Kilowatt Kid’s first victory here, from his very first start, at Winton Raceway in September 2017. Brad Williamson drove the 3YO gelding that day for trainer Alister Black.
