Sand Wave is Southland Horse of the Year

Sand Wave (Somebeachsomewhere) trained by Nathan Williamson and owned by Chris Alcock, Nine Three Syndicate, and Nude @ Ten Syndicate was crowned Southland Horse of the Year. He won six of his thirteen starts across 2022. The province’s leading stake earner, with major wins and placings being:- 3rd in the New Zealand Derby, 2nd in the Listed Sophomore Classic, 1st in the Listed Magnifique and 1st in the Group Two Southern Supremacy Stakes.

Sand Wave also took out the Three Year Old Colt/Gelding Award. Next day, Sand Wave was back at the races for his first appearance in a month as he sets about qualifying for the Country Cups Final on 12 May.
