WavetheBill taking a break till Spring

As exciting as it was for us humans to have three of Wave Runner’s family race on Diamonds Day at Ascot Park, Invercargill on 30 April; it proved a step too far for WavetheBill (WTB).

While looking extremely handsome and content pre-race (above photo), seven races in two months resulted in an unexpected lacklusture performance over the 2200m mobile. A clear signal to trainer Simon Adlam he was keen on a vacation in a grassy paddock with Mid Canterbury vistas.

On the flip side, his brother Sand Wave was awesome in taking out the Southern Supremacy Final, while nephew Matt Major surprised everyone when running towards the outside fence in the same race. Another unexpected result as he was looking set to at least run second after sitting parked. Perhaps Matt Major was also signalling to trainers Steve & Amanda Telfer he was keen for a break?

Sand Wave has one more mission, the Garrard’s Sires Stakes Magnifique (Listed Race) on 13 May, for trainer Nathan Williamson before he will also enjoy a winter break. It goes without saying we’re excited to see all three boys back at the racetrack in Spring.
