Albion Park - flooded

Grab your snorkels and flippers everyone …………… torrential rain has created havoc for Racing Queensland as their premier track has been forced to close for the forseeable future. Harness racing has been transferred to Redcliffe and Marburg until such time track remediation is completed.

Or thoughts go out to our cousins across the ditch, with a number of trainers incurring major damage to their stables, fencing and training tracks.

Affectionately known as “The Creek”, Albion Park still had flood waters inundating parts of the venue, with facilities yet to be fully assessed, making it too hard to predict a date for the return of racing at this point.

While Wave Runner never graced Albion Park, her brothers Magical Mike (2 of 16 wins) and Ima Sea Storm (6 of 22 wins) were both successful there back in 2002 and 2012, respectively. However, the absolute extended family standout was Ideal Scott who took out the 2013 Queensland Pacing Championship a $200k Group One event. In fact 9 of his 22 wins came at The Creek. Ideal Scott being a son of Wave Runner’s aunty Tuapeka Wings.
