Wavebydesign to carry on the record…

Just like her full sisters (Digital Art and Break Dance), Wavebydesign (WBD) has taken time to mature. 2023 marks her third preparation and one which should lead to a race day debut by mid-year as a 3YF. She represents Wave Runner’s third visit to Art Major and we’re looking forward to her carrying on the family record of a 100% win rate from one of the world’s leading sires.

She’s a compact looking type, much like her full sister Break Dance whom we were fortunate enough to race on lease from the late Father Dan Cummings. There’s a couple of WBD snaps above, taken recently at trainer Simon Adlam’s place.

Break Dance is currently Art Major’s fastest winning mare on New Zealand soil at 1.53.3. She stands 4th in the all-time NZ bred mare’s list behind Major Reality (1.50.9), Majorly Foxy Styx (1.52.8) and Tact Rousey (1.53.2); all of whom set their records in Australia. Even more notable is Break Dance sitting at #19 on the full list of NZ-bred Art Major progeny. A list which includes outstanding performers - Alta Maestro, Art Official, Bomb Suit, Field Marshall, Major Mark, Princess Tiffany, Ride High, Sky Major and the Devil’s Own.

Perhaps there’s something in the breed that fits well with Art Major as the grand dam of Major Reality is Maureen’s Dream, in turn the great grand dam of Break Dance (Wave Runner ex Seamoon).
